Maintenance Contacts for existing Tenants

Our office hours are 9am to 6pm on weekdays and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. For all emergency maintenance that occurs inside these hours please call the office number 01273 622664 and one of our team will be able to deal with the issue and liaise with our maintenance teams.

For all non-emergency maintenance it is best to email the office on maintenance@qestateagents.co.uk so a written record can be kept of maintenance problems.

Emergency maintenance is where there is a risk of damage to the fabric of the property or to life. If an emergency does come up outside of office hours and it cannot either wait until we are open or damage reducing measures can’t be taken i.e. turning off the water stop cock or gas to the property, then you should use the numbers below. If for any reason no one picks up on the numbers provided then you will be required to look up an alternative emergency contractor for the specific problem.

If an emergency contractor is required, whether it be one provided below, or one you find yourself, only the bare minimum works required to make the property safe or halt the emergency should be carried out (e.g. turning off the water, isolating the leak or turning off the gas). With any further remedial works being booked in by Q Estate Agents during office hours.

Please make sure you have taken a common-sense approach to any issue that arises and checked to make sure the problem does not have a simple solution, such as checking the fuse board doesn’t just need resetting or using a plunger for a toilet blockage.

If you smell gas, turn off the gas to the property and alert the gas network immediately on 0800 111999. Gas shut-off valves are noted in the schedule of condition/inventory and often found on or next to the gas meter.

North Laine Guide

North Laine is one of the ever fewer areas of Brighton keeping the city's Bohemian heritage alive. Tightly packed streets with a mix of commercial and residential properties located in the city centre close to Brighton Station. Homes in the area are predominantly Georgian and Victorian terraced house with a few striking conversions of former warehouses and factories. The main thoroughfares are occupied by a mix of independent fashion shops, flea markets and collectables stores. Alongside this are plenty of eateries catering to nearly every taste.

Best pub

The Basketmakers. Arguably the best pub in Brighton, certainly one of the most well known having been discussed by numerous celebrities over the years. Made all the more remarkable by its unassuming and tucked away location. Honourable mention to the Vine Street Tap, pop in for a cocktail on the way into town.

Best place to eat

There's better known places but for us, it's the Blue Man on Gloucester Road. North African food at its finest.

Best thing to see or do

Possibly a wine tasting at Ten Green Bottles, or a show at the Theatre Royal, or visit a pop-up art exhibition at the Jubilee Library, or rummage round Snoopers Paradise… Let’s face it, this is North Laine in Brighton, there is no shortage of things to see or do.

Best Kept Secret

Don’t just stick to the main streets in North Laine. Some of the side streets house some real gems, take Upper Gardner Street for example, home to one of the best flea markets in Bazaar.

Reason to live there

City centre living is the real key here. Right slap bang in the middle of one of one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Restaurants, bars, theatres and music venues are all on your doorstep and there is a choice of homes to match. Trendy loft apartments, purpose-built flats, and period cottages can all be found in the area.
