Kemptown Guide
Best pub
The Black Dove on the corner of Lower Rock Gardens and St James’s Street. Arguably the best cocktails in Brighton (according to at least one member of the Q team) and a great place to start any night out.
Best place to eat
24 St Georges on St Georges Road; we’ve been enjoying this superb restaurant for years and would recommend it for anyone looking for some fine dining.
Best thing to see or do
Kemptown’s position means you’re never more than a couple of streets from the seafront so it seems mean to ignore the sea but we’re going to suggest taking in a cabaret show at Proud Brighton.
Best Kept Secret
We have it on very good authority that Bar Broadway is one of the funniest and most entertaining nights out in the city… if musical theatre is your thing.
Reason to live there
It is largely period homes in Kemptown with large imposing Regency squares being connected by narrow streets made-up of terraced houses. St James’s Street and the Seafront provide the vibrancy of the area while a quieter way of life can be found to the east around Sussex Square and the Kemptown Enclosures.
